Abstract

In the present review we analyze how the drugs currently used in the treatment of obesity present a complex risk-benefit profile. It seems to be clear that it is closely dependent on the characteristics of the individual patient (metabolic or psychiatric comorbidities, use of other drugs, etc.) in determining both efficacy and adherence to treatment. In addition, the patient’s psychological aspect may compromise the entire treatment.

Pharmacovigilance is a key element in promoting a more conscious, individualized, and sustainable clinical use and not only in ensuring the safe use of medicines.
