Abstract
Although surgical cardiac sympathetic denervation (CSD) aims to achieve durable interruption of sympathetic input to the heart by resecting the lower half of the stellate ganglion and upper thoracic sympathetic chain, complete and permanent denervation is not always achieved in clinical practice. Stellate ganglion block should not be considered redundant in patients with prior cardiac sympathetic denervation and may represent an effective rescue therapy in refractory electrical storm.
