This study examined the socioeconomic characteristics influencing internal migration among cassava smallholder farmers in Southern Nigeria. Data were collected from 422 respondents and analyzed using Binary Logistic Regression model. The findings showed that 95% of households had at least one migrant, resulting in labour shortages in 88.4% of households. Migration was driven mainly by employment opportunities and higher urban incomes. Age, farm size, extension access, credit access, and distance to urban centres reduced migration, whereas male-headed households, education, household size, farming experience, and cooperative membership increased migration. Strengthening rural employment, credit, and extension services is essential for sustaining cassava production.
